To celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (#IDWGS2026), I joined a group of women researchers from SRUK/CERU (Spanish Researchers in the UK) to volunteer at the Instituto Español Vicente Cañada Blanch. Our goal was to mentor students and share our own experiences in academia and research, hoping to inspire the next generation of scientists — particularly young women considering a career in STEM. It was a rewarding afternoon of conversations, questions, and encouragement for students taking their first steps toward a career in science.
I am a member of SRUK’s Women in Research Equity Committee, which supports and promotes equity for women in research careers.
